DIST.GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE

Message By District Governor Rtn.Ravi Choudhary

Dear Rotary Leader,

Greetings!

It gives me great pleasure in extending warm greetings to each one of you as you prepare to take over your responsibilities in the new Rotary year.

We are all part of a great organization that challenges us to step out of our comfort zones and work for the betterment of the society. Over the past so many years, with our dedicated and committed efforts we have been able to benefit different sections of the society. Our fight against Polio is a shining example of Rotary Serving Humanity.

But, we cannot sit back and relax over the laurels of the past. We have to set new trends and make an impactful difference in the society. We need to do bigger and better projects that leave deeper imprints for the future leaders to follow.

As your District Governor, I believe, that together we can achieve all of this and much more. The need of the hour is to adopt a pro-active approach and participate whole-heartedly in all your club and district initiatives.

I urge you all to build your leadership plan based on strengthening your club and by bringing-in like-minded members who are as dedicated as you in serving humanity.

Since, service and fellowship go hand in hand, I do hope that our initiative of releasing the District Directory right at the beginning of the new Rotary year will prove to be an invaluable tool in bringing the clubs and members closer.

Ritu and I wish you well, and will be by your side as you reach out to Make A Difference in the society.

Regards

Ravi Choudhary

The Journey with Sparsh

A Matching Grant project to establish an independent Pediatric Dialysis Center for children in association with Rotary Club Of Delhi Southend In India

In India more than 70-80% children with kidney failure do not receive any form of Renal replacement Therapy(Dialysis or Transplant), chiefly because of financial constraints lack of health care facilities and scarcity of trained physicians and technical staff that can cater to the specific needs of children and adolescents With the intent of providing free, state of art care to children with kidney failure, who were awaiting kidney transplantation, an exclusive pediatric dialysis centre “Southend Sparsh” began services from June 2013.

Concept of Southend Sparsh had been conceived by Rotary Southend Charitable trust, New Delhi, because the lack of medical knowledge, club approached All India institute of medical sciences New Delhi, which agreed to support the noble cause immediately. Another road block in the functioning of Southend Sparsh was to find out a place with proper pediatric intensive care back up in case of emergency., this problem is solve by Batra hospital and medical research center New Delhi which agreed to provide a rent free space for our good intentions.

Each of the collaborating centers has a role prefixed. Rotary club took the responsibility of providing financial support, while AIIMS agreed to provide Man power training and recruitment. Lastly Batra hospital apart from providing rent free space also provides us the backup services.

After all the initial hiccups finally we started Southend Sparsh Pediatric Dialysis center in June 2013. Till 31 August 2016 we have helped 70 patients many of whom have under gone kidney transplant and few got their kidney function back to normal so they do not require dialysis any more. Till now we have completed almost 4000 dialysis sessions and running two shifts per day successfully.

We have exclusively treated patients from weak socio economic status of society. As in private sector the cost of each session can go up to 4000INR which is almost impossible to bear even for a middle income family as children require at least 3 dialysis sessions per week. So the economic burden on familys is enormous. By establishing an state of art exclusive pediatric dialysis center , which is free of cost we would be helping those patients who wants to go for kidney transplantation.

All this has been achieved because of good intentions of all roatrians and other collaborating centers.

Southend Sparsh is an excellent example of Team Effort.. We hope that this team remain intact for all the coming years and becomes a bench mark for other to follow.
